Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. -- Matthew 18:3
Because we recognize the divine wisdom of childhood and adolescence, St. Stephen’s is a place where youth and adults walk side by side, companions on the journey of faith. We strive to honor questions, avoid pat answers, and look together for the ways that God is at work in our lives. Our mission is to love and affirm all young people as children of God, to serve them as companions and guides, and to faithfully entrust their care to God. All are welcome here.
Summer activities for youth
Though weekly youth group gatherings are on hiatus until the fall, several summer activities for grades 4-12 are planned. They include the following–more details to come. In the meantime, please contact Sarah-Keel Crews in the parish office with questions.
Sunday Family Suppers for June 18, July 12 and August 13
The weekly Sunday Community Suppers on these dates will have activities planned especially for youth (grades 4-12).
For Club 45 (rising fourth and fifth graders)
July 27: We’ll attend a Richmond Flying Squirrels game together
August 8: We’ll have a picnic at Maymont Park
July 20: Movie night
August 17: Tubing on the James
There are also opportunities for young people to volunteer this summer, including at the farmers market, the food pantry, Vacation Bible School, and more. Please contact Sarah-Keel for more information.
If your child (through grade 8) will take part in Sunday school, youth group or other activities this year, please complete this registration. Thank you!
